Dez Bryant Should Smack Warren Moon…

Warren Moon shocked me today. Not because I was watching highlights from his hall of fame football career on YouTube. I was shocked by his blatant disrespect of Dallas Cowboy receiver Dez Bryant.  In a radio interview today with KIRO-AM 710 in Seattle, Moon was asked about Oklahoma State star receiver Justin Blackmon.  His response was:

“He’s a beast, isn’t he? He’s like Dez Bryant with all of his brain cells”

“He’s a guy that has all those skills that Dez Bryant has but he’s not the knucklehead that Dez Bryant has turned out to be with Dallas. And a much better route runner than Dez Bryant is, but a very tremendous talent.”

1st of all, Dez Bryant had nothing to do with the question he was asked.  Mentioning him while he wasn’t present was a very cowardly (& feminine) move by Warren.

Sure, Dez Bryant has run into a  little trouble in his 1st couple of years in the NFL.  Instead of tearing him down, somebody in Warren Moon’s position should find a way to help Dez transition into maturity.  Obviously the existence of Dez Bryant is a bother to Warren so instead of throwing fuel on a growing fire, he should support him in the same way he supported Cam Newton before last year’s draft.

Warren Moon faced adversity at a young age because a black man playing such a cerebral position like quarterback was rare in his era.  What would have happened if a legend like Jim Brown questioned his intelligence?  What if he said that Warren was a good athlete but lacked the intelligence a quarterback needed to succeed?  I’m sure comments like that would not have been appreciated by a young Warren Moon.

Maybe Warren should have his brain cells examined before making comments like these again…
